Dance Camp 2017 Update: to June 6, 2017
Only 11 more big sleeps! DanceCamp 2017 is fast approaching. The event where ‘Swing’s the Thing’!
We’re back at our favorite venue, Nanoose Place Community Centre in Nanoose BC.
Our Schedule of workshops is a bit more finalized now after recent developments (see below). There is a great variety of workshops including west coast swing, lindy hop, shag, and more from top notch instructors. We have special bootcamps and introductory classes in a number of swing categories. And there is a lot of fun stuff happening too.
Contact us by email for more information on whether the Follows List is closed. We’ve found a few more leads (yeah!) so things are opening up again. The best way to register is still as a couple or as a single Lead dancer (but you must dance Lead for the weekend).
As noted recently, there has been a very recent development in our instructor offerings. We have just learned of the death of Nicki Silton, one of our top rated instructor pairings this year. This tragedy has led, of course, to a cancellation in their attendance. The DanceCamp organizing team is deeply saddened for Doug Silton and their families and has now decided to make DanceCamp 2017 a charity event in honor of Nicki Silton. Any and all net profits from this event will be contributed to a charity of choice as made by the DanceCamp Organizers in consultation with Doug Silton. We hope that dancers from across Vancouver Island, the Gulf Islands and B.C. will join us in this cause. Our other instructors have volunteered to step up and contribute the same lesson materials to our attendees and we are so thankful for their support.
Here is the revised PDF file that shows our Instructors for 2017 (post-tragedy):
