Welcome to Ballroom Dancing in Nanaimo

The Nanaimo Ballroom Dance Society is a non-profit organization run by volunteers, which creates opportunities in Nanaimo and the surrounding area for all to enjoy dancing.

The focus is mainly on the International style of ballroom dancing, which includes the five standard ballroom dances (Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, Slow Foxtrot and Viennese Waltz) and five Latin dances (Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive and Paso Doble).  We also include the occasional line dance, sequence dance, West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Mambo, Merengue and other dances just for fun.

Our regular monthly dances feature a workshop which provides instruction to help introduce you to international style ballroom and Latin figures, develop the fundamentals of good dance technique, and have fun with sequence dances.

Our dances are open to all participants, from novice to competitor, and we welcome new members.  You can purchase annual membership for only $20 at any of our dances.  Each dance event features excellent music played at the appropriate tempo, a large hardwood floor, refreshments, and a friendly group of dance enthusiasts.  See our resources page for venue locations.
